The Times Bringing Turks Together

There are material and spiritual values that hold nations together. There is a ritual saying: the joys multiply when they are shared, the troubles decrease when they are shared. The nations carry their identities around this material spiritual values out to the future. Cry together, laugh together. This cultural heritage is stems from both religious values and the custom of society.
What is the cultural heritage of the Turks? What time keeps them together? We can separate them into three as religious, national and cultural values.
We celebrate 2 festivals from our Religious values. Feast of Ramadan and Feast of Sacrifice. On holidays, visits are made to relatives, friends, neighbors, and people in need. Sweets, candies, meals are prepared for our guests. Monies are given to the children. Children kiss the hands of the elders. Special clothes are taken for the festival. The children put on their holiday costumes on their bedhead. They wait for the feast morning with excitement. The gifts are taken. These are celebrations that bring peace and joy to the society.

Also we have ceremonies related to marriage. Invitation cards are printed carefully. People goes to the wedding house to congratulate the bride and groom. Special gifts are given to them.
Families of newborn babies are visited. People pray for the baby for a happy life and give them as a gift; gold, jewelry, baby clothes, and so on.
Also Friday is holy day (It is the holy day of Muslims). On Fridays we try to dress clean, worship more and help people.
Apart from these, we also have our national holidays. April 23 national sovereignty and children’s day, October 29 republic day , May 19 the commemoration of Atatürk, youth and sports day. These festivals were given to the nation by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.
In short, the Turks are warm-blooded people. In our life, there is love and gladness. As a Turkish proverb says, our philosophy is; “Do good to the fish, throw it to the sea. If the fish doesn’t know your favor, Allah knows. (The same meaning with ‘Cast one’s bread upon the waters’)
Turks are known for their hospitality. We wait for you in my country! I’m sure you’ll love it when you meet with the Turkish people and our culture. By the way we already loved you!!!
Stay with Love!

Suleymaniye Mosque

There are some moments when you feel the peace in your soul… Visiting mosques is the recipe for these moments for me. They are my dearest places that I love the most. They are where I feel at peace when I enter, which is why I am glad to sit in their gardens and the reason that I gladly accept the fact that I will die someday! For this reason, when I was asked to describe an important building representing the history of Turkey, the first place to come to my mind was one of these mosques. Suleymaniye Mosque.. The Suleymaniye Mosque was built by the great architect Sinan between 1550 and 1557 at the order of Süleyman the Magnificent. The Süleymaniye, more than a mosque, is an important historical symbol for the Turks. It unites Architect Sinan with Süleyman, one representing the best of the arts and the other most powerful of political strength. Mimar Sinan made the world’s most beautiful works of art. His work can be seen in many cities; from Kayseri to Istanbul and ...
